Lovely to see you all back after a very long summer break and a big welcome to all our new members. We are very much loking forward to getting settled back in and planning for this autumn term.
First some reminders;
Water only in the childrens bottles please and let us know if you have forgot so we can provide a spare.
Can you encourage you child to put their photo on the self registration board on arrival.

Dates;
Half term is 26th to 30th October
Christmas half term is 21st to 31st December
This term we will be learning about the changes in season and celebrating autumn. We will also do a lot around personal social and emotional skills in this term , as we aim to make sure all children are happy and starting on their journey to independence and self regulation.
We will build all our planning around the 7 areas of learning and begin to share ideas with you at home to help support your childs learning. Some ideas for now;
Communication and language- talk about autumn walks and introduce new words such as conkers, crunchy, hibernate. Retell stories and encourage children to describe what they notice
Personal social and emotional-work together collecting natural objects,take turns during games, discuss caring for living things, explore feelings through stories and develop independance when putting coats and shoes on.
Physical development- autumn obstacle courses, jumping in puddles, balancing on logs, stepping stones, collecting leaves, threading leaves, dough activities and fine motor mark making.
Literacy- read autumn books and poems, make leaf books, create labels for an autumn display, practice writing letters, listen for initial sounds and retell stories using puppets/props.
Mathematics-count leaves and conkers, arrange natural objects by size, colour, shape, make repeating patterns such as stick/leaf/conker, measure sticks, compare quantities, explore numbers through song, investigate capacity with autumn themed water play.
Understanding the world- observe seasonal changes in trees, weather and wildlife. Investigate seeds, leaves and plants. Explore why some animals prepare for winter, and compare seasons.
Expressive art and design- leaf printing, autumn collages, sing autumn songs,movement to music, explore colours, textures and sounds.
