NEWSLETTER January 2026
Happy New Year everyone. We hope you had a lovely Christmas.
Thank you for supporting our Christmas fundraising, we really do appreciate it and anything raised always goes towards children’s resources.
As the weather is rather cold can we please remind you to bring warm coats, gloves etc and to label them
Encourage children to wash hands, either in entrance or in the bathroom before they start to help keep flu germs away.
Also encourage children to put their photo on the star self-registration board.
This is a 6-week term and we break up on Friday 13th February for half term, returning on Monday 23rd February.
If you have any leftover dry rice or cereal that we could use for sensory play we would love any donations please.
A theme this term will be Under the Sea, along with winter and celebrations such as Chinese New Year, pancake day sn valentines.
Themes are to help us tie the 7 areas of learning together in a way that will interest the children. We have chosen this by watching and listening to how they have been playing.
Some ideas for home to help you support your child’s learning.
Understanding the world- recognise some oceans are warm or cold and different creatures live in different seas. What do we need to survive under the sea.?
Maths- look at sizes of sea creatures or length of sea weed, how many fish in a shoal or what patterns do they have.
Communication and language- don’t be afraid to use new and big words such as the names of the oceans, or names of funny sea creatures. Talk about how you feel being in or near the sea. Can you make sea creature noises.
Literacy- as many books and reading as possible, encouraging a love of reading at this age ensures a life long love of books. If they have a question, show them how to research it safely and recognise internet safety.
Expressive art and design- make junk model creatures or with playdough
Personal social emotional- focus on feelings e.g. a shy crab, collaboration e.g. a school of fish and environmental e.g. pollution, discussions to develop confidence and empathy.
Physical development- sensory sea play such as rice, water can help with transferring skills into jugs, bottles. - sing baby shark, wobble like a jelly fish
Thank you
