Newsletter February 2025
Lovely to see you all back after the half term week. We are looking forward to this 5-week spring term and all the new learning it will bring.
Reminders first.
If your child is absent, please text us on the day where possible.
No toys from home please
No food in children’s bags
Labels hats etc
Last day of term is Friday 28th March, returning on Monday 14th April
World Book Day is Thursday 6th March. Children can come dressed as a book character and £1 donation each will go towards children’s resources.
We are planning the 7 areas of learning around the theme TRANSPORT this term. We will break it down into road traffic and include road repairs, road safety, breakdowns, garages, road signs. Then move on to buses and trains and all that entails e.g. role play train station, timetables, junk models etc. from then sea travel, aeroplanes, emergency and working vehicles, and maybe even hot air balloons.
Ideas for home; The theme is to engage the children in something of interest while encountering the following areas of learning.
Personal social and emotional – talk about favourite vehicle/road safety. Use new words-transport/green cross code/vehicle
Communication and language-what transport helps us. Sing e.g. row your boat
Physical development- fine motor skills-draw around small vehicles or stencils. Gross motor skills- use chalk to make road markings and scooter along
Understanding the world- cut out vehicles from magazines and group into air or road travel etc
Expressive art and design- make junk model vehicles, role play holidays, pack a bag, make a passport/tickets etc
Literacy- lots of books. Add a letter to a toy vehicle and match it to a parking bay made with tape on the floor. Or add child’s name letters-can they put them in correct order
Maths- race vehicle down a ramp and estimate which will go furthest.
We are looking for help- and wondering if anyone could take a large plastic container to the tip for us. It has been taken to pieces. Thank you
